Comprehensive Name Availability Search

$357.00

Before you file a trademark application, you need to know whether your name is likely to be approved. A business name that your state approves, or that has an open domain, can still conflict with someone else's trademark. This search is the first step in the trademark process. It tells you whether your name is clear for the way you plan to use it, before you spend money on an application, branding or a public launch.

What's included:

A comprehensive search across the internet to determine how likely your trademark application is to be approved. The search covers:

  • USPTO registrations and pending applications

  • Similar spellings, sound-alikes and names that mean the same thing

  • Related products and services, not just identical ones

  • State business and trademark registries

  • Businesses using the name without registering it

  • Websites, social media and online marketplaces

The trademark application is not included. It's a separate step that comes after the search.

Why it comes first:

Every trademark application I file starts with this search. It's billed separately on purpose: if the results show your name likely wouldn't be approved, you haven't paid for an application.

How it works:

  1. Order the search and complete the form.

  2. I run the search and review the results.

  3. You get my findings within 10 business days.

  4. If the results support moving forward, we'll talk about next steps for your trademark application.

Good to know:

  • Each search covers one name.

  • Results reflect what's on file on the day of the search. If more than 30 days pass before you file, I'll recommend an updated search.
